drive<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h1><em><strong>Installing CentOS 7<\/strong><\/em><\/h1>\n<p><em>Note: If you have issues installing CentOS via the default install interface, try using the Fallback graphics mode, found in the Grub boot menu under &#8220;trubbleshooting&#8221;.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Install CentOS like you normally would, just be sure to leave at least 60GB of free space for Docker\/Zenoss<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.incredigeek.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large \/><\/a><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1><strong>Configuring CentOS for Zenoss<\/strong><\/h1>\n<blockquote><p><em><strong>Setup network<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>You will need to setup your network settings.\u00a0 Refer to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.incredigeek.com\/home\/how-to-set-a-static-ip-address-on-centos-fedora-or-red-hat-linux\/\">this<\/a> post to set a static IP address if needed.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Note: In CentOS 7 ifconfig is not installed by default.\u00a0 If you need to check the IP address use the following command.<\/p>\n<pre><em>ip addr sh<\/em><\/pre>\n<p><em>After your connected to the internet you can install ifconfig with<\/em><\/p>\n<pre><em>yum install -y net-tools<\/em><\/pre>\n<p><em><strong>Setup Hostname<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Zenoss seems to have issues if you change the hostname after it is installed so be sure to set up the hostname before you start installing zenoss.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Check current hostname<\/em><\/p>\n<pre>hostname<\/pre>\n<p><em>Change the hostname.\u00a0 Replace &#8220;newhostname&#8221; with your new hostname.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<pre><em>hostnamectl set-hostname newhostname<\/em><\/pre>\n<p><em>After you finish configuring the hostname, add it to &#8220;\/etc\/hosts&#8221; with the following command.\u00a0 Change the IP address and the hostname &#8220;zenoss&#8221; to your systems IP address and hostname.<\/em><\/p>\n<pre>echo \"192.168.56.101   zenoss\" &gt;&gt; \/etc\/hosts<\/pre>\n<p><em><strong>Update your system<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<pre><em>yum update -y<\/em><\/pre>\n<p><em><strong>Disable Firewall<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<pre><em>systemctl stop firewalld &amp;&amp; systemctl disable firewalld<\/em><\/pre>\n<p><em><strong>Enable persistent log storage<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<pre><em>mkdir -p \/var\/log\/journal &amp;&amp; systemctl restart systemd-journald<\/em><\/pre>\n<p><em><strong>Create two Btrfs file systems<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>First create two normal linux partitions using your favorite disk utility.\u00a0 I am using cfdisk.\u00a0 Each partition should be over 30GB.<\/em><\/p>\n<pre><em>cfdisk \/dev\/sda<\/em><\/pre>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.incredigeek.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/6.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-828\" src=\"http:\/\/www.incredigeek.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/6.png\" alt=\"6\" width=\"736\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.incredigeek.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/6.png 736w, https:\/\/www.incredigeek.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/6-300x196.png 300w, https:\/\/www.incredigeek.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/6-460x300.png 460w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 736px) 100vw, 736px\" \/><\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Create two Primary partitions and put them at the end and then write and exit.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.incredigeek.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/7.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" https:\/\/www.incredigeek.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/7-460x300.png 460w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 736px) 100vw, 736px\" \/><\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Take note of the two new partitions names.\u00a0 Mine are &#8220;sda4&#8221; and &#8220;sda3&#8221;.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>After the above changes are made, it would be a good idea to reboot the machine so the partition table can be updated.<\/em><\/p>\n<pre><em>reboot<\/em><\/pre>\n<p><em>Now we will reformat the two partitions as Btrfs<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Create mount point.<\/em><\/p>\n<pre><em>mkdir -p \/var\/lib\/docker \/opt\/serviced\/var\/volumes<\/em><\/pre>\n<p><em>Change &#8220;\/dev\/sda3&#8221; and &#8220;\/dev\/sda4&#8221; to your partitions names if they are different.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<pre>DOCKER_PART=\/dev\/sda3\r\nAPP_PART=\/dev\/sda4\r\nmkfs -t btrfs --nodiscard $DOCKER_PART\r\nmkfs -t btrfs --nodiscard $APP_PART<\/pre>\n<p><em>Add the new file systems to fstab, so they automatically mount on boot.<\/em><\/p>\n<pre><em>APP_PATH=\"\/opt\/serviced\/var\/volumes\"\r\necho \"$DOCKER_PART \/var\/lib\/docker btrfs rw,noatime,nodatacow 0 0\" &gt;&gt; \/etc\/fstab\r\necho \"$APP_PART $APP_PATH btrfs rw,noatime,nodatacow 0 0\" &gt;&gt; \/etc\/fstab<\/em><\/pre>\n<p><em>Mount the new filesystems, and make sure that they mounted<\/em><\/p>\n<pre><em>mount -a\r\nif [[ `mount | egrep 'docker|serviced'` ]]; then echo \"Mounted\" ; else echo \"Not Mounted\" ; fi<\/em><\/pre>\n<p><em>You can manually check by running the following command.<\/em><\/p>\n<pre><em>mount | egrep 'docker|serviced'<\/em><\/pre>\n<p><em>you should receive something like the following<\/em><\/p>\n<pre><em>\/dev\/sda3 on \/var\/lib\/docker type btrfs (rw,noatime,seclabel,nodatasum,nodatacow,space_cache)\r\n\/dev\/sda4 on \/opt\/serviced\/var\/volumes type btrfs (rw,noatime,seclabel,nodatasum,nodatacow,space_cache)<\/em><\/pre>\n<p><strong>Disable SELinux<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>By default SELinux is installed and enabled.\u00a0 To disable SELinux either edit the config file &#8220;\/etc\/selinux\/config&#8221; and change &#8220;SELINUX=enforcing&#8221; to &#8220;SELINUX=disabled&#8221;, or you can run the following command.<\/em><\/p>\n<pre><em>EXT=$(date +\"%j-%H%M%S\")\r\nsudo sed -i.${EXT} -e 's\/^SELINUX=.*\/SELINUX=disabled\/g' \\\r\n\/etc\/selinux\/config &amp;&amp; \\\r\ngrep '^SELINUX=' \/etc\/selinux\/config<\/em><\/pre>\n<p><strong>Enable Dnsmasq<\/strong><\/p>\n<pre>systemctl enable dnsmasq &amp;&amp; systemctl start dnsmasq<\/pre>\n<h1>Install and Configure NTP<\/h1>\n<pre>yum install -y ntp &amp;&amp; systemctl enable ntpd<\/pre>\n<p>Have NTP start on system boot and then start NTP<\/p>\n<pre>echo \"systemctl start ntpd\" &gt;&gt; \/etc\/rc.d\/rc.local\r\nchmod +x \/etc\/rc.d\/rc.local\r\nsystemctl start ntpd<\/pre>\n<h1><strong>Download and install the Zenoss repository<\/strong><\/h1>\n<pre>rpm -ivh http:\/\/get.zenoss.io\/yum\/zenoss-repo-1-1.x86_64.rpm\r\nyum clean all<\/pre>\n<h1>Final Reboot<\/h1>\n<pre>reboot<\/pre>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h1><strong>Installing Zenoss<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Once your logged back into the system start installing zenoss<\/p>\n<p>Install the Zenoss-core service and start docker<\/p>\n<pre>yum --enablerepo=zenoss-stable install -y zenoss-core-service\r\nsystemctl start docker<\/pre>\n<p><strong>Add the Btrfs and DNS flags to the Docker startup options<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Identify ip for docker<\/p>\n<pre>ip addr | grep -A 2 'docker0:' | grep inet<\/pre>\n<p>Add the docker startup options.\u00a0 Change the ip address if needed.\u00a0 It should match the one from the previous command.<\/p>\n<pre>echo 'DOCKER_OPTS=\"-s btrfs --dns=172.17.42.1\"' &gt;&gt; \/etc\/sysconfig\/docker<\/pre>\n<p><strong>Change the volume type for application data<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can manually edit the serviced file &#8220;\/etc\/default\/serviced&#8221; and change the variable &#8220;SERVICED_FS_TYPE&#8221; from &#8220;rsync&#8221; to &#8220;btrfs&#8221; or run the following command.<\/p>\n<pre>EXT=$(date +\"%j-%H%M%S\")\r\n sudo sed -i.${EXT} \\\r\n -e 's|^#[^S]*\\(SERVICED_FS_TYPE=\\).*$|\\1btrfs|' \\\r\n \/etc\/default\/serviced<\/pre>\n<p><strong>Restart docker<\/strong><\/p>\n<pre>systemctl stop docker &amp;&amp; systemctl start docker<\/pre>\n<p><strong>Start the control center<\/strong><\/p>\n<pre>systemctl start serviced<\/pre>\n<p>you can monitor the process with<\/p>\n<pre>journalctl -u serviced -f<\/pre>\n<p>Serviced has about 5-10 minutes worth of work to do before you&#8217;ll be able to login to the Control Center interface.\u00a0 If the service fails to start, reboot the server.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Setting up name resolution<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To setup name resolution on you local computer just add the following line to your &#8220;hosts&#8221; file.\u00a0 On Linux and OS X this is located in &#8220;\/etc\/hosts&#8221; On Windows machines it is under &#8220;\\Windows\\Sytem32\\Drivers\\etc\\hosts&#8221;<\/p>\n<pre>192.168.56.101 hostname zenoss5.hostname hbase.hostname opentsdb.hostname rabbitmq.hostname<\/pre>\n<p>Be sure to change the IP address and &#8220;hostname&#8221;\u00a0 to the IP address and hostname of your server.\u00a0 You also might need administrative privileges to edit the hosts file.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.incredigeek.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/10.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-858\" src=\"http:\/\/www.incredigeek.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/10.png\" alt=\"10\" width=\"677\" height=\"492\" Center.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Now open up a web browser and go the following URL.\u00a0 Change the IP address to your servers IP.<\/p>\n<pre><em>https:\/\/192.168.56.101\r\n<\/em><\/pre>\n<p>Login with the Zenoss server root username and password.\u00a0 If you want to setup a user other then root, please refer to the Zenoss Installation guide <a href=\"http:\/\/www.incredigeek.com\/home\/downloads\/Zenoss_Core_Installation_Guide_r5.0.0_latest.pdf\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a
