Recently received the following error while trying to do a packet capture on windows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are two solutions to this problem<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. Disable promiscuous mode for the adapter<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Update Npcap<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Disable Promiscuous mode<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    “Please turn off promiscuous mode for this device”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

    You can turn on promiscuous mode by going to Capture -> Options<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

    Uncheck promiscuous<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

    <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    And click Start<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Update Npcap<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    If you need promiscuous mode on, then look at installing a newer version of Npcap<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Restart Wireshark, and Start a capture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
